Also known as antiglobulin test , can be either direct/ indirect used to detect presence of antibodies against circulating RBCs , resulting in anamia. ( Autoimmune hemolytic anamia). Coombs test checks the blood for presence of certain antibodies that are attaching & destroying RBCs , which resulting in anemia ( Hemolytic aemia).2 types : (1) Direct : Detect cs antibody attached to surface of RBC. (2) Indirect : Detect antibody that are anattached, freely floating in blood stream.
