Description

G6PD is an enzyme helps RBCs function normally, protect it form potentially harmful byproducts of metabolism. Its lack make RBCs more vulnerable to break down , resulting in hemolysis & anemia . Test is ordered whwn person has sign & symptoms of hemolytic anemia or before prescribing medications that are known to cause hemolysis if the patient has G6PD deficiency.
