Description
AFP : Test detects blood levels of AFP (alpha feto protein), a protein primarily produced by liver in developing baby. But outside of pregnancy and birth, liver damage & certain cancers can increase AFP levels significantly. Test is done to help diagnose and monitor therapy for certain cancers of liver, testicles or ovaries, sometimes as a screening test in person with increased risk of liver cancer such as chronic hepatitis or cirrhosis.
