Description

B type natriuretic peptide (BNP) and N-terminal pro B type natriuretic peptide (NT – proBNP) are proteins produced in small quantitis in heart, but released in large amount when there is strain on heart for pumping out blood to all organs. NT- proBNP test help detects diagnose and evaluate the severity of congestive heart failur, also used along with lung function test to distinguise between causes of shortness of breath.
