Creatinine kinase is an enzyme,mostly found In skeletal muscle,heart & brain. 3 types of ck enzymes- CK MM- found in skeletal muscle. CK MB- Found in heart muscle. CK BB- found in brain or skeletal muscle.Total CPK level in blood indicative of injury to heart or brain or skeletal muscle,CK-MB is cardiac specific,so CK-MB test used to differentiate between skeletal muscle & heart damage.CK-MB test used to detect heart atteck ,also to detect secnd/ subsequent heart atteck.
